The selection of candidates for the B.Ed. program will be in strict accordance with the regulations set by the Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University - TNTEU and the guidelines issued by the Government of Tamil Nadu. These guidelines are updated from time to time to ensure transparency and fairness in the admission process.
Candidates seeking admission to the Bachelor of Education B.Ed. program at Sri Vinayaga College of Education must meet the following academic qualifications and requirements as per the guidelines set by the National Council for Teacher Education - NCTE and Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University - TNTEU
Candidates must have completed their education following either the 10+2+3 - 15 years or 11+1+3 - 15 years pattern of study. This pattern includes 10 or 11 years of schooling, followed by 2 or 1 years of Higher Secondary Education, and a 3-year undergraduate degree from a recognized university.
The candidate must have successfully passed both the X - 10th Grade and XII - 12th Grade examinations from a recognized board of education. These examinations could have been conducted by the respective State Boards, Central Board of Secondary Education - CBSE, or any other recognized national or international board of education.
The candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree - Undergraduate Degree from a UGC-approved university. The degree must be in one of the subjects that are offered as part of the school curriculum by the Directorate of School Education at the Secondary High School or Higher Secondary Senior Secondary levels.

Candidates who have completed their schooling and undergraduate studies through open or distance learning modes from recognized institutions are also eligible, provided they meet the minimum educational and subject-specific criteria.
All degrees must be obtained from universities/institutions recognized by the University Grants Commission - UGC and the Directorate of School Education.
Candidates must be proficient in the medium of instruction (English or Tamil) as opted during the B.Ed. program.
Candidates who have completed their Master’s Degree in the eligible subjects, in addition to their undergraduate degree, may also apply. However, the admission will be primarily based on the qualification and marks obtained in the UG program.
Candidates who have completed their degrees under the Integrated Dual Degree programs - like B.A. + B.Ed. are eligible, provided the course meets the minimum duration and subject requirements set by the NCTE and affiliated university.
Eligibility is subject to verification based on the documents provided during the admission process. Meeting the eligibility criteria does not guarantee admission, as selection will also depend on merit, available seats, and performance in any entrance exams if applicable.
Candidates seeking admission to the B.Ed. program at Sri Vinayaga College of Education must meet the minimum percentage requirements based on their community/category as per the guidelines set by the Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University and Government of Tamil Nadu. The required percentage of marks in the undergraduate UG degree is as follows

Candidates holding degrees in related or equivalent subjects are eligible for specific subject streams in the B.Ed. program. Below is a list of equivalent subjects and their corresponding eligibility for B.Ed. specializations:
Candidates with an Applied Mathematics degree can apply for B.Ed. in Mathematics.
Candidates with degrees in Applied Physics, Geo-Physics, Bio-Physics, or Electronics are eligible for B.Ed. in Physical Science. Candidates with a degree in Applied Chemistry can also apply for Physical Science.
Candidates with degrees in Bio-Technology, Plant Biology, or Plant Bio-Technology can apply for B.Ed. in Biological Science. Candidates with degrees in Environmental Science or Micro-Biology are also eligible for Biological Science.
Candidates with a degree in Applied Geography are eligible to apply for B.Ed. in Geography.
Candidates with degrees in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Computer Applications are eligible to apply for B.Ed. in Computer Science.
Postgraduate candidates with a minimum of 50% marks in Economics, Commerce, Home Science, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy, Logic, or Indian Culture are eligible to apply for B.Ed., regardless of their UG marks.
Candidates who have completed their UG degree without a language subject Tamil or another Indian language in Part I and have graduated with English and their main subject will be considered for admission to the B.Ed. program. However, they must qualify in the Tamil Language Test conducted by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission - TNPSC for future employment purposes.
Candidates holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics, or other equivalent qualifications, are eligible for admission to the B.Ed. program.
